For one of my writing classes, I was responsible to create a quick, 2 minute podcast script on a topic of my choosing, but had to be written for the Public Relations Specialist for a company that covers said topic. For this assignment, I tackled the topic about companies that still test on animals and offered advice on how to avoid them. NOTE: This was for school purposes only and I am not affiliated with PETA.

| We all own cosmetics and toiletries, but do we ever think about how they are made? Or moreover, is it even significant to know how those products are being made? More importantly, knowing who they are testing those products on? | Front view of Ross in his office. Behind him is his brown desk that has a stack of important papers, a lamp, a stuffed teddy bear and his Advanced Diploma. There are photos on the wall as well as his graduation lay. | Ross speaking Music in the background. |
| My name is Ross Lopes, and today I’m going to talk to you about the sad reality of animal testing that is still practised today and give you advice on how you can help stop it. | Camera closes up on Ross. | Ross speakingMusic in the background. |

| To date, there are still hundreds of companies that are testing on animals.Major make-up cosmetic brands Maybelline and its partner company L’Oreal still test on animals, as do Mac and Avon. | Close up view continues on Ross. | Male cosmetics are also in the line of fire. Gillette — which is the most commonly used male shaving brand —still tests on animals.Companies like Burberry, Dior and Dolce & Gabbana sell cosmetics such as perfume that, you guessed it, test on animals. Even our common household cleaning supplies aren’t cruelty free. Brands like Arm & Hammer and Clorox test on animals as well. | Close up on Ross continues. | The problem with animal testing is that in some countries, it is required by law to test products on animals. And because of this, when a company wants to expand and sell in a country, it must adhere to local laws. | Close up on Ross continues. | Ross speaking Music in the background. |
| But that doesn’t mean we give up and let it happen. We must stand up for the animals and do our best to end it. You’re probably wondering how we can do that? | Close up continues. The background stays the same – showing the teddy bear, Advanced Diploma, photos, and the graduation lay. | Ross speaking Music in the background. |
| Here are five easy ways you can help end animal testing. One: Buy cruelty free products. Two: Look for the Leaping Bunny Logo, which is the gold-standard in cruelty-free certification.Three: Speak out on social media. Call out companies that are testing on animals and tell them you are no longer buying their products. Four: Stay educated about animal testing. Keep up to date with what companies are testing and which ones have switched to cruelty free. And Five: Join a movement or campaign. Be a part of the change to stop animal testing. | Camera zooms away from Ross and goes back to the area view of the room. Ross uses hand motions to specify which number he is on. | Companies tend to listen to their consumers. For example, Covergirl used to test on animals, but after hearing what its audience had to say about it, it switched over to cruelty free in 2018. | Image of Cover Girls cruelty free make-up appears on the screen. | Ross speakingMusic in the background. |
| By following these five simple options, and getting our voices heard, together, we have a chance to end animal testing altogether.
